Are the Cornell Cooperative Ext sprints for training only or will there be results recorded in a race-like setting on each of the weekdays?
Clarification - the morning (classroom) sessions are held in the CCE. The afternoon "sprint and training" sessions are at parks in the area: Mendon Ponds, Durand Eastman, Letchworth, and Webster. That gives a fresh park for each day.
The sprints will be electronically punched and we will certainly print summaries, compare, and talk about them while at the event. They won't be "officially" recorded and are not likely to make it to the web.
[From what I've seen, this may be just as official as some races for some clubs, but the intent is that it is a training run, not a race;-]
The training event for the same park after the sprint will cover one or more O exercises such as "control picking", "line orienteering", "memory", "compass", or whatever else the trainers come up with...
All participants will be using the same set of sprint and training controls - adults & juniors. (And youth will be back under their parents supervision)
The O meets: Night-O at Mendon (following the catered dinner), MTB-O at Dryer Road, and Canoe-O on the Genesee River and Erie Canal will be tabulated in a race-like setting.
Is there any chance that BFLO will set up a Niagara Falls sprint again sometime during their end of the week? That was a great event and would be a fantastic draw...
The BFLO event has been set as a Long at Chestnut Ridge Park, and a Middle and Sprint at Sprague Brook Park for a while now, and I do not believe they would be able to change things - even if someone dropped a boatload of cash and resources on them.
Let's give them a good A meet hosting experience and encourage them to come back for a swim in the very near future again;-)
