Discussion: mapping trails under overhanging rock structures?

how is this done? i've never seen an instance of a map showing a trail under an overhanging rock structure, but i know it must happen somewhere. the question intrigues me............aaaaaaaaaaaaannnnd now i have just been informed that i have asked the same question previously.
pls forgive my elderly & defective memory. as emily litella used to say: never mind!

There was an overhanging hedge at the sprint event I went to on the weekend. I thought it was marked as grey but it turns out it was just white.
