Thats clever. What was original duration the built in battery could provide and how long exactly after modification it runs/you think it runs ?

in -10C it worked about three minutes. and ni Spain + 18C about 30-40 minutes. Now at 0C I did shoot 65 min skiinig session. I have there two AAA size li-ion cells. I first had only one cell, but I could shoot only 25 minutes skiing, so I added one more. I guess now it may last close to two hours in summer temperatures.

But an other limit comes first. memory card has fat32 file system, max file size is 4Gb. My 65 min skiining session avi was 3.9 Gb. And camera just shuts doen when max size is reached. So it may be I will be able to shoot only about 50-55 minutes without pressing stop and start. We'll see. But is fine for me, I can rshoot trainings just fine, and middles and shortish H40 longs. Ant in longer ones I guess I have time to push that button twice to make it start new file.

maybe file system can be changed, I don't know. But I guess not.

Weird. Isnt there any other firmware for cam available? I thouht it should autosplit longer video session in multiple files. What type of video encoding camera uses ? MJPEG or other ?

I got AEE MD91S cam month ago http://www.aee.com/en/productshow.asp?Sendid=52. It saves in 640x480 and doesnt upscale to 720x480 like most Ebay MD80 clones do. I guess it takes less space on memory card. I have not tested real battery running time yet. Specs says something ~2h. Nobody figured out how to remove timestamp on it.

Did you used magnetic ring for wide lense before taping it to camera ?

It shouldn't work. I seriously doubt about ntfs r/w implementation in those devices.
