Take a look at IOF webpage.

It looks that they make agreement with the first IOF official partner. I read some years ago that IOF make agreement with one sport agency but it didn’t work. Big applause for whoever is responsible now for this action.

What is strange to me is that IOF still don't have any official marketing or similar commission. From the int. sport organization aiming to bring more sponsorship money into the sport (and Orienteering onto Olympics) I would expect that they have one group which work hard only on this field.

Marketing and PR strategy with daily tasks should be even more visible in IOF work. Last year they have been quite innovative compare to last decade. I hope that they will stay in this direction. Sometimes I have had feeling that IOF is run mostly by group of people with “only“technical background and with little knowledge about media, finance and marketing.

Congratulations!

didn't know that partnership, sounds good. kemira is originally an old finnish company, initially state owned, nowadays internationalised and listed on the stock markets. amongst the 20 biggest companies in finland.

On a completely different note, I noticed that the UN has decleared 2011 the International Year of Forests. It's sad that the IOF hasn't taken up the challenge to promote itself and teh sport in this context.

A side-note to Kemira, the bronze-medalist at the long distance in trondheim Emma Claesson works at Kemira. So they have a clear connection to orienteering at least..
