Dear Ski-O Community:
We are pleased to inform you that The 2011 World Ski-Orienteering Championships will be spectator and press friendly for people both at the race site and from around the world via the internet. Races at VM2011 will be broadcast live via web-TV which can be seen at: www.skiwoc2011.com Results will also be available on this website. In addition, there will be a large-screen TV showing the action from the ski trails at the 2011 Ski WOC for the first time in Ski WOC history. GPS tracking will also be used for the top skiers to help spectators to follow the performance of their favorite ski-o heroes. TV broadcasts will start approximately 10 minutes before the time for the first start each day as per the above schedule. We also hope to produce short summary videos of each day’s events most days which will eventually be available on this website when they are complete. Please share this information with ski-o fans in your country.
Each day we will make a short video with highlights from the day’s race which can be shown on TV news or other similar programs. If you know of a TV station which would be interested in showing some of our video coverage, please send us their contact information (to Carl Magnusson: carl.magnusson@gmail.com, Tel. +46-73-5602890) including presumably the FTP address where we should upload the video material. We do not charge for this service. To the extent possible, we will try to get footage of particular skiers skiing and/or via interview for a TV station has a request and informs us of their request in advance. We have the greatest possibility to do this at the sprint (March 22nd) and sprint relay (March 24th) races when TV-Funäsdalen will be assisting us.
National teams are also reminded to submit key national media contacts (including, when available, media outlet name, contact’s name, telephone number, and eMail) from your home country to us (newspapers, magazines, TV stations) so that we can send them press releases about the event. Of course this will work best when national teams have in advance made contact with these press outlets. However, we are happy to obtain press contact information even if national teams have not been in contact.
