Does anyone know where/if a list of WRE for 2007 is? Are any of them set yet? I tried through the IOF site, but the latest one I could find is in Hong Kong for January 1, 2007, but on the listing of rthis event it says "no later events" or some such.

Specifically I am interested in knowing if any of the public races in and around JWOC 2007 will be WRE's.

Thx.

The Australian Long Champs will be held on the second weekend, it is usually a WRE. I havent seen anything written though.

The applications for WREs in 2007 were due to the IOF by September 30th, so I imagine that the IOF is still sorting through the applications and creating the schedule.

According to the WRE Diary the first four days of O-ringen in Sweden (JULY 23-26) will be WRE:s.

The 1st and 2nd Days (Long and Middle) are of course World Cup events. I also assume that there will be multiple WRE courses -like M21E1, M21E2 like they have at Spring Cup. I guess there will be the normal superelite class?

You can't always count on entering the elite and getting ranked. At large events like the Spring Cup, sometimes only the top elite class is a WRE. If you are not good enough to get into it, no WRE points for you. Some people (incl. myself) kept complaning about it, so they did rank the E2 category at the Spring Cup in 2006.

At the 2004 O-Ringen, both the Superelite and the "plain" elite were WREs. There was not a WRE at the O-Ringen in 2005 or 2006.

I understood the rules to require that WREs be open to all. Ranking only a superelite class that was only open to some would seem not meet this criterion. Am I misunderstanding what they mean?

(From the WRE Handbook 2006:

World Ranking Events Criteria
• shall be Open Events

Some definitions:
• “shall” refers to statements which are mandatory, i.e. must be followed)

What's the definition of "Open Events" (e.g. does it mean "not age-restricted" or something like that)?

The Rules are one thing, and what the organizers do is another. The comments that were directed at the Foot-O Commission requested bringing reality in line with the Rules.
