I don't know why some other countries use yellow, grey describes it much better.
BTW when are you arranging the first night training/competition on a self-made map? ;)

ISOM 2000:

212 Bare rock
A runnable area of rock without earth or vegetation is shown as bare rock. An area of rock covered with grass, moss or other low vegetation is shown as open land (401/402).

Finnish standard:

212 Avokallio
Avokallioiden ulkoiset tunnusmerkit Suomessa vaihtelevat suuresti. Kalliomaastossa avoimet ohuesti sammaleen tai jäkälän peittämät alueet on miellettävä avokallioiksi ja kuvataan sillä. Vastaavasti kanervaa , heinää ja muuta matalaa kasvillisuutta kasvavat avoimet alueet kuvataan merkillä 401 ja 403.

I guess you can see the point or two even if you don't understand Finnish at all. biggest difference is here even if there is moss or lichen on bare rock but it still looks and feels like bare rock it should be mapped as such. If there is grass, heath or similar low vegetation it should be mapped with yellow.

Hmm, I can think of getting some cheap reflective tape from biltema and using it as controls. Maybe, let's see...

We tried that. It's just not that reflective...

Any suggestions? Something from local fabrics shop maybe?

I guess Biltema's tape might still do. Area is small, it's just good if it's not that reflective. But I can imagine it would not do well for real night O training.

Maybe one could pick this up from local pharmacy:

Sorry, haven't followed discussion. But last year before the Finnish nigth champs we had to remake all reflectors for all posts, as Biltema's reflecting tape wasn't reflective at all. At 10 m distance the orange tube was already reflective but not the tape. I honestly don't remember were from we got the better tape in the last week or two before the event.
