Starting early applying for the permit and planning camping for October 22/23, 2011, next year. 4 or 8 hr. map trek rogaine. Awesome stuff. Hope we can pull it off again. You can help by taking the survey so I can get good info. to the park about numbers, logistics. Thanks, hoping to get sufficient response by Oct. 15...

If you ever hold a 24-hour there, I'll bet people would travel to spend time exploring an interesting place like Joshua Tree.

This being a national park, I don't know if a 24 hour event would get approved, especially at Joshua Tree, where the terrain is jagged. I'm happy to be able to do an 8 hour there, if we're that lucky again.
Anyhow, there's plenty of exploring to do if folks come for the 8 hour as well. In fact, even more time.
