Global sports are well known. Do we really believe that we can bring orienteering on this level?

I think that we already achieved our goal with inclusion of orienteering in World games. We should try now to focus on batter image of orienteering without looking how to sell orienteering and hope for Olympic status. With good IOF web page, good promotional events around the globe with best orienteers, ....

ORIENTEERING DISCIPLINES / COMPETITIONS
We like to practice all kind of official and non official orienteering disciplines around the world and almost of all of them are some kinds of sports competitions on same level. IOF probably don’t want to have more than 4 different disciplines with world championships but I think even 4 are too much. We should focus, promote and organizing on high level only orienteering and Ski orienteering as competitive disciplines of orienteering with the best chance for promoting, practising around the globe and maybe oneday inclusion into summer and winter Olympics. Also they are the most natural and historical disciplines. MTB-O and Trail-O only as some kind of World meeting, Trophy or Orienteering games for orienteering community (all ages)... each 2 or 4 years without big promotion, high level of organization and championship medal – batter as O games gold medal. Some countries even don’t want to practice as they think Trail-O is not a sport and it is really strange image; WOC together with WTOC.

IMAGE / OLYMPIC STATUS
From global perspective even ARDF orienteering could be competing for Olympic status. Even that I like the diversity of orienteering disciplines in other hand I don’t like the general image of orienteering. We try to sell each orienteering disciplines as sport and this is probably causing a big confusion when general public want to know which discipline of orienteering in really our main competitive discipline. We must consider that global public don’t know much about orienteering and especially nothing about our version of orienteering disciplines. Orienteering is really small global sport outside Scandinavia.
