I am a intermediate/advanced orienteer w/ a background of drafting (architecture). Please suggest procedures/references to learn to do mapping. Thanks!

Here are two good resources that I appreciated a lot.

http://www.gaorienteering.org/Education/MapGuide/i...

Of course, one of the best ways to learn is to spend a few hours in the field with a mapper.

Although badly outdated in places, it might still be interesting (partly for historic reasons) for you to check out the O'Mapping Course pages of the IOF Map Commission, at:
http://lazarus.elte.hu/mc/ik/ik-start.htm

Tony Federer's website on this topic is far less formal and more up to date:
http://users.rcn.com/compassbrook/mapproc.htm

You should also join the Yahoo! O-map discussion group if you haven't already, since you'll be bound to have lots of questions, and probably many of them can be answered by just searching through the discussion group archives ...
