The 2010 Rocky Mountain Goat is now streamered and waiting for controls and, ultimately, runners. This year's Goat takes place at Pelican Bay checks in at 13.2 kms, with 21 aesthetically pleasing controls placed carefully for an optimum goat experience. The map includes some new area surveyed this year, including the most prominent rock feature in the whole Pelican Bay area (some runners may took a look at it and decide to run in the other direction!)
The course offers a fine array of challenges, all the while taknig full advantage of the fine visibility and excellent runnability the Laramie Range is known for. And, as always, the vegetation is runner friendly; if you are seeking out dense and inhospitable jungle, this is not the place to find it.
So far, nobody has ever run at Pelican Bay and left feeling disappointed with the terrain, and I don't think the streak will be broken this year.
Big vistas, big terrain, big orienteering--yahoo!!! : )
Love it! Any flower picking opportunities?
Is the rock feature you refer to larger than Steppn' Stone?
@ioana: there should be plenty of good flower picking on the university campus, through first frost. But you better be agile and quick on your feet because the flower guards will be vigilant!
@mapboy: this new feature dwarfs Steppin Stone by a lot. Probably the martians can see if from Mars with their naked eyes (of course the martians have exceptionally good eyes.)
