So the girls have decided that since there is only three of us this year that we may want to think of some idea for our poster that we can do with you guys. So are there any ideas for our poster? Also I know Holly will have a computer if we need one to make the poster there but do we want to make something before hand? we weren't sure about printing but holly pointed out we shouldn't be too far away from the town to get access.

If we can get a good design submitted to me before I get home from Korea, I can send it to my Dad and he *might* be able to find time to make a professional poster done up with vinyl and all of that good stuff. He is a plant manager of a sign company (the kind of sign company that puts up the humongous Car Dealership Signs that you can see from 2 miles away on the highway, as well as the tiny parking space signs. They have massive vinyl printers that can take a design and cut it out for you.

Ok that is awesome Keith!!! hmmm but would be able to like put pictures of us on there? Or is it limited to the number of colors? because we are going to need our photos so people can recognize us and match face to name. But that is a really awesome idea! When are you home from Korea?

Keith Andersen:
June 16th.

The vinyl can handle all of the background designs; I am not sure how pictures are made. I assume that if our pictures were taken I could print them on photo paper and affix them to the poster. Any small text (smaller than 48 font) might be better hand written as vinyl can be fussy.

Either way, if we can come up with a good design we should be able to work with it. Worst case scenario it's made by hand.

What did last year's look like?

You don't wanna know. It sucked.

Acampbell:
It didnt suck that badly thank you very much! The girls was pretty good. or at least what we wanted it to be.

Is there a link to a photo of it or something? And what is the general concept of this year's? Are we going to incorporate the new Orienteering USA logo or do a more Junior Team based poster? And how big is it going to be? 1ft by 2ft or 10 ft by 20 ft?

Ooh... I can kinda see what they all are...

I suggest ours is overly large, obnoxious, and have a common theme.

So the next step is to choose a theme...

I like where you're thinking is going Keith. Way too large and obnoxious is a great idea. I'm not sure what we can do with this but when you said large and obnoxious the first thing that came to my head was Kanye West. Maybe a Kanye theme?
May 4, 2010 12:42 PM #
A.Child:
Haha what about a paparazzi theme? And big and obnoxious would be perfect because that's what the europeans think of us. That is brilliant thinking! If we do a Kanye thing, though, we need to use those sunglasses...
May 4, 2010 2:24 PM #
Acampbell:
I totally agree!!!

hmmm so a theme... it should be something very American i think. haha only thing coming to mind is like Ms America/ the bachelor right off the top of my head.

(10 mins later): we could go something like the photos the US Olympians did with the US flag. But that isn't really that exciting.

(10 more mins later): there are 9 of us so we could do something with 9. so on that note list of things with 9:
- innings in a baseball game.
- squares in a saduko board
- cats lives
- squares in a tic-tak-toe board
- 9 pieces of 8 in Pirates of the Carribean
- 9 planets (if you count Pluto)

A.Child:
ehhh... I like kanye...
May 4, 2010 3:49 PM #
Keith Andersen:
Oh I definitely agree with the obnoxious.

I was fooling around with the Obamicon thing where you take your photo and make it look like an Obama poster. I'm still messing around with it but I think it might be cool.

But I like the Kanye theme. we can get our hater blockers and tell everyone about how Beyonce had the best videos of all time.

Exactly we can walk on stage and take the mic away from the officials at the closing ceremonies and talk about how France should have won JWOC.
May 6, 2010 3:26 AM #
A.Child:
Haha brilliance! Any volunteers? Haha and maybe just do it at the banquet... Less people would be mad.
May 12, 2010 12:35 AM #
A.Child:
Just wanna point out that we hafta get this done before we head over to europe. Whatever we decided to put on the poster, it has to be big and obnoxious.

Nobody seems to have the ball rolling when it comes to proposed designs. I see it going one of two ways:

either it has a great looking generic background in order that it be reusable for years to come, somewhat to the theme of this rudimentary paint drawing:

Or it isnt as professional because it isnt as permanent. Then we could just photoshop Kanye's albums to show our smiling faces. It's open for debate.

Either way, big can be accomodated.
May 12, 2010 12:13 PM #
A.Child:
I like the second idea personally... no one really reuses their posters so I the less permanent idea is better...

Second idea= Gold. I like the creativity Mr. Andersen.

Anyone a wizard with photoshop (or other editing software)? We currently have an idea but have no way to make it come to fruition unless someone has some mad skillz.
May 25, 2010 11:52 AM #
A.Child:
I can do it. I just need to know what to do.

Also, if you need help or professional programs, my son is a student at the Art Institute in Phila in Web Design. He already has an Associate Degree in Graphic Design. An he once was an Orienteer, so he knows the sport as well. Let me know if he can be of any help.

I think we need to do full body pictures instead of the bears. I can do the photoshop stuff no problem. I just need pictures.

Pictures can be taken care of one of two ways. Either we can all find eachother on Facebook:

or just post some on the thread.
