Can't you use java application from http://www.bt747.org/ to set intervals for NMEA sentences ? It is pretty cool an powerfull app.

I tried that, but factory defaults are restored when I turn off and on. App just says I can do this limited amount of times and it kind of lik like there is no times left. And it has no effect. All I can do is change it for current session only, not permanetly.

So all I could do is was set the setting by myself with cell phone every time I start using it for this purpose.

Yeah. Life and gadgets are full of surprises ;) BTW I was curious and did some tracks with Wintec wbt-202 (u-blox chipset) and compared it to MTKI (links to tracks at my training log). Unfortunately I have no MTKII around.

Your tracks are impressive. I know u-blox is fine chip, Gpsseuranta.net uses u-blox chip units.

Wintec looks accurate. Route is slightly zigzaggy. Some smoothing needed or some algorihtm to calculate distance travelled. Wintec has some nice units with barometric altimeter, but those are a bit heavy.

I had bad experience with MTK I unit (ibt747). It worked fine in flat terrain, but in steep places and big cliffs nearby it got lost and made spikes and strange loops all by itself.
