I had a chance to test qstarz bt-1300S logger with the same MTKII chipset some months ago for a short period. In comparision with Qstarz BT-1000 (based on older MTKI chipset and bigger) tracklog was worse. It was more sensitive but precision not so accurate. This is probably due to smaller and inferior anthena design. That could be a problem with other small factor devices like Holux m1200e too.
Some good read here http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC... featuring your mentioned BT335 too.

Yes, I have seen that gpspassio review. I guess bt-1300S has too little antenna and suffers from that.

I have tested one MTK 1 unit (ibt 747). It wasn't too good, every time I got some strange spikes and detours, typically gps just jumped at some point ~70 meters and stayed there for a while and then came back. This holux unit feels lot better so far. But we will see.

Most of these units has ceramic patch antenna. Size does matter, also thickness. here is some antennas and specs. I guess Holux unit may have 18x18 mm 4 mm thick antenna, it isn't that bad. bt-1300S may have something like 18x18 mm 2 mm thick, the device is so thin. But I am just guessing here.

I think globalsat has used uses 25 x 25 mm 4 mm thick antenna. I haven't opened mine, but I have seen images at web.

Where do you place your GPS unit during training session ? In winter I put mine in some fabric (sock, glove) and place under cap. This way I experience better reception and tracklogs. Carrying unit in pockets or in armband cause worse results probably due to body shadow.

P.S. Do you know whats happening with FRWD ? Looks like after takeover by Elisa thay halted all hardware development and maybe there is no much left of company ? I liked that their units provided barometric pressure - feature usually missing from loggers.

Take a look my today's note. The first test was pram jogging and units were in pram's pocket.

I don't know more than you do but I guess that's what happenned to frwd. These days they just focus on traxmeet online service.
