Our club is investigating purchasing a GPS for mapping purposes.

Many people in the club use variations of the Forerunner for training, and have on occasion used a Forerunner to help with mapping, so we're reasonably familiar with what it can offer. What we're wondering is whether there is a more mapping-specific GPS device that would be better for mapping use (as opposed to the Forerunner, which is of course intended to be a training device).

Does anyone have any words of wisdom on this topic?

Have you already checked the O-map YahooGroup's archives? (you may have to join to do so if you haven't already... just throwing this out for info for others with mapping questions)

The presentation "Optimizing GPS Accuracy" here is a good start.
