I'll be in Cambridge next work for work and am looking for tips where to go running or maybe - if there's a nice map reachable by public transport - even do a bit of orienteering training. I'll have to work somewhere in the Addenbrocks Hospital and think I'll stay in a Hotel somewhere there (haven't booked yet, so don't know for sure).
Has anyone any tips for me where to go for running? But it shouldn't be to difficult to reach cause I'll have no car and don't want to pay to much in cab fares.

Are you talking about Cambridge, UK, or Cambridge, Mass., USA?

Seems like Addenbrooks Hospital is in UK - unless thereĀ“s also a twin in the US...

Sorry, I meant Cambridge, UK. Didn't realize there's one in the USA too.

there's a copy of everything in the US...

try contacting Cambridge University OC, http://www.cuoc.org.uk/

here are all their maps, http://www.cuoc.org.uk/Archive/MappedAreas.aspx

The other local club is West Anglia OC, http://www.waoc.org.uk/n.humphries/waoc/

but you'll probably have more luck with the uni

That's okay, Cambridge is used to being overshadowed by its neighbor. Not much there besides a few schools, anyway.

13 US states have Cambridges, but I'm guessing Cambridge, Nebraska isn't high on the list of orienteering destinations.

you could try contacting maireadrocke (at) hotmail (dot) com as she's just started uni there and will be running every day I'm sure!

Loads going on in Cambridge. WAOC are best for lifts to local events and further afield as the Cambridge students have 2 week terms so aren't around much.

WAOC also have a Cambridge based runnning night - details on their website.

There is a guide to running routes around Cambridge written by an orienteer here... http://www.cuoc.org.uk/AboutUs/TrainingGuide/Index...

From Adenbrookes you can run out to the Gog Magog hills and Roman Road (South East) or there's the footpath along the river by Grantchester. Its really not the place for hill training though...

Thanks Alistair, that was exactly what I was looking for.
The map archive (thanks Nixon) is also nice.

If you want a copy of the Cambridge urban o-map let me know and I can email across.

@hillanddale: That would be very nice.
A bit of street-O will be the only kind of O-training I'll be able to try out in this week cause I'll have to work until dark and won't be able to take my good night lamp with me - I need the hand luggage space for laptop and camera already...
