Still not done yet, but some things to check out:

1. Photos - the http://terraloco.com front page has them now for each
of the 9 days... see if you can find the ones with Vladimir and I hanging out at McLaren with our little friend the McLaren map spider. And lotsa finals photos.

Speaking of photos, please share yours with me, if you'd allow me to
post the link to the album - thanks!

2. Results - thanks to Toby Ferguson, Rosemary Johnson, and Chuck
Spalding for sorting and compiling the results, and to Tapio Karras
for posting the courses to RouteGadget.

The BAOC site has all the results and links to splits and RouteGadgets
here: http://baoc.org/wiki/Results/2009/NA_Sprint_Finals
The http://terraloco.com writeup has links to these and some
narrative, and a table of the winners.
Jennifer Kerr was the only person on the short competitive category so
we included her in the "long" awards.

The Pt. Bonita RouteGadget should be up hopefully soon.

3. Speaking of mavericks... remember that post about the surfing competition, calling all y'all out? Well, ironically, it was a surfer from Santa Cruz (via Switzerland) who just showed up on short notice to nab the victory in the men's open division... congratulations to Gabriel Lombriser. And Jarkko Laine, a visiting Finn who stumbled upon us, also upped the ante with the competition. Jonas Kjall, a Swedish doctoral student at UC Berkeley and Canadian Dr. Mike Smith rounded out the final four. Sadly Mike was unable to run the final due to an early flight.

4. Next in the pipeline (punintended:) Thank you acknowledgments, training camp writeups and results (some good sprints there too - thanks Ben Legg, Jonas Kjall, Magnus Johansson, Eric Bone) and the debut of the DVD.

And speaking of the DVD... we need testimony!

Like, I recorded this with the Mac's Photo Booth application.

So when I responded to it using YouTube's respond feature... it's under responses... I was able to download an MP4 file which is editable. Send something like that to me, and I would love to put it in the DVD... or whatever works - PhotoBooth, etc. - thanks!

All courses including Point Bonita are now available on RouteGadget. Visit http://baoc.org/wiki/RouteGadget for introduction or go directly to http://baoc.org/gadget/cgi/reitti.cgi to draw your route.

Note that given the e-punch problems at Point Bonita, I decided to set it up using the "no results" mode where competitors need to enter their name, total time, and any CUMULATIVE splits that they might have. Note that if you are uploading a GPS track, then you don't need to enter your total time or any of the splits.

You can draw your route even if you didn't take any splits, just enter your name and total time. Note that RouteGadget requires CUMULATIVE splits. Both splits and total time need to be in MMMSS format. For example, 0:57 is entered as "57", 5min43s as "543", and 1hr12min32s as "7232". That's easy.

I'm having a look at the RouteGadget for Stage 3 on SFSU. On leg 9 - 10 (to the northern-most control on the course) it looks to me that everyone has drawn their routes through a thin strip of olive green. Am I missing something? Or should everyone have been disqualified ;-)

Good eyes. Unfortunately, most of the people running there didn't have as good eyes (me included.)

I will say that the strip was nigh impossible to see at speed (or completely still) in the prevailing light, given its width on the actual map (very, very narrow.)

Eric Bone (maybe others?) did manage to see it and go around.

In situations like this, I think you have to use the distinct vegetation boundary symbol to give the runners a chance to see the feature on the map.

Yep, disqualify 'em all. That would'be put me back in the game.

I doth protest!

I am proud to say that I properly avoided the olive green on that leg, though that's only because I hadn't done so during Stage 2 and was made aware. A lot of people had a really hard time believing that there was a strip of olive green there, even while standing still and being told where to look!

There was a fat purple line added to at least one version of the courses, but sadly somehow it didn't make it to the final version. I'm sorry about it.
