Sounds like a one-car accident...needless. From the Owensboro Messenger:

...An Apollo High School senior was killed in a car accident in the 2600 block of Kentucky 279 on Friday evening. Melissa Shaw, 16, died after being ejected from the car she was driving, Daviess County Coroner Bob Howe said. She was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple trauma by Daviess County Deputy Coroner John Thayer.

Christopher Hixson, 17, a passenger in Shaw's car, was airlifted to a hospital, Howe said. Howe said he was told that Hixson served in the military. Shaw was a commander in Apollo's Air Force JROTC. The accident is being investigated by the Daviess County Sheriff's Department...

She was the best Core Commander ever! I miss her very much. Although it has been 9 months, i still think about her everyday. She was a wonderful orienteerer and she taught me most of what i know.
Rest In Peace Melissa. We all love you!
