Yikes, that story has my skin crawling too. We're about to do our first long event in tick country. How big is a tiny tick? Pinhead-sized?
Unfortunately, yes. And this one was moderately close to flesh-toned where I'm used to them being black. If it hadn't been moving, I might well have missed it.
Are you sure that they weren't chiggers? I had a variety of creatures crawling on me this weekend, and many of them were apparently chiggers...
Most of them looked pretty much like ticks in the Mid-Atlantic region. The last one admittedly looked different though the body plan appeared to be much the same when I squinted. My previous direct experience of things called chiggers is confined to South America so the last one could have been what they call a chigger in Missouri for all I know.
