Courses for the US Short Course Championships are now available on RouteGadget at http://www.baoc.org/gadget Long Champs courses will be added shortly.

RouteGadget is an online utility for competitors to draw and compare their routes. It not only shows the routes, but when linked with e-punch results, it allows the race to be replayed, even simulating a mass start. You will actually see little squares run across the map. It really adds another dimension to post-race analysis.

Note that while drawing your route, you can use RouteGadget's comment field to further elaborate on your route choices. Was the route planned or accidental? If it was planned, what was the thinking?

RouteGadget was developed in Finland and has been used by the most major Finnish orienteering events during the last couple of years. BAOC installed a copy of the Gadget on its web server in October and has tested it with a couple of our local events.

We had to trim the map quite a bit to keep the image file size reasonable without sacrificing the resolution too much. It should still accommodate most reasonable routes except the most western road option on the long downhill leg, which I doubt anybody took anyway.

Already 18 people have drawn their Short Course routes. Take a look at http://www.baoc.org/gadget
