Doing some Spring cleaning and figured instead of taking my set of ONA magazines in for recycling I would see if anyone on Attack Point is interested in them. Here's the deal:
I have almost the complete set of magazines since they started in 1985 (21 years worth) - missing two issues - The very first; and (for some strange reason) Volume 15; #6 (August 1999). (I will keep looking - the latter may be around somewhere) A total of 141 magazines.
I am willing to sell them to the highest bidder as a fundraiser for the US and Canadian Junior Teams (i.e. split 50/50 after shipping costs).
I have no idea if there is interest in this or what they are worth if anything.
Starting bid - $50 (USD)
Bids in US dollars please.
Highest bidder to pay shipping cost - I don't know how much it would be - the magazines fit in 4 cardboard magazine holders, so it should not be too outrageous - these are not Vanity Fairs.
If you want to bid just post a message to that effect. Then we can all watch the price climb into the stratosphere. Of course if someone wants to make a confidential offer they can just email me I guess.
I will set a deadline of 5:00 pm Pacific on Sunday May 7th.
If anyone can see any problems with this process please advise, but I don't want to get too 'anal' about it. This isn't ebay. By the way, I checked with Ken and he thought it was okay to do this on Attackpoint - I am doing it as a fundraiser; not to make any $.
On a related note I also have a pretty huge collection of "O" maps I may want to dispose of the same way if there is interest - some pretty obscure maps from places like Tunisia, Cuba, Ethiopia, plus swacks from regular countries.
Ross,
Great idea for supporting our junior teams! I'll start the ball rolling with a US$50 bid.

Awesome idea. I'd definitely bid on something like this if I had any money :) It's a pretty cool keepsake.
A couple of further points:
1) On closer inspection, it looks like this collection is only missing the first issue. I thought I was missing a "Volume 15 #6" based on only having 7 issues for that year rather than 8, But #5 (July 1999)is an expanded issue - the last done by Sara Mae and Larry. Then there is October 1999 - inside it is identified as Volume 15 # 5 (obviously a typo); The next one I have is November 1999, identified inside as volume 15; #7; with a reference to copy due for the next issue being January 2000.
2) It was suggested I should end the auction on a Monday since some people may be away orienteering on the weekend and may not check internet until at work. So it will close at 6:00 pm Pacific time Monday May 8th.
3)I will sweeeten the pot by throwing in a bunch of other back issues (optional if the high bidder wants, since it increases the mailing cost)--
44 issues of Orienteering World;
8 issues of Compass Sport
(including the classic article "Zen and the Art of Orienteering");
26 issues of The Australian Orienteer.
The bidding war of Mike and Mike continues... $65.
Too bad the other magazines aren't being auctioned separately.
Less than 12 hours to go.....We can do better than $75 to support our juniors....can't we?
okay, $115 for the juniors...
