My version of GarminTraining Center (3.4.3) only exports to its own .tcx format...
But, I usually go to the GPS Visualizer site to convert my tcx files to the more generic GPX format or plain text.

Thank you, Brooke! This is actually a lot more than I needed :)
I simply wanted to get the totals only data (distance, pace, HR, and such). Do you happen to know how to extract that?

Hmmm...I'm always so fixated on putting my GPS tracks on maps that I assumed that's what you meant. ;-)
It's seems like it should be simple to export workout summaries from Garmin Training Center -- but I just poked around and I couldn't figure it out.
Maybe some other software besides GTC would give you more options? I use SportTracks sometimes. It's free and it seems to have a lot more features than GTC.
