(For those of you who don't know -- Sara Mae & Larry Berman founded the Cambridge Sports Union and run Berman's Orienteering Supply).

Very nice, and Larry did a 2:38, which I did not know.

Nice article--thanks for sending the link along Dean.

For those interested, Sara Mae's and Larry's story also gets some good coverage, complete with pictures, in Hal Higdon's "Boston: A Century of Running" (1995).

Congrats to Sara Mae and Larry for their achivements. Those are some fine marathon times.

I've been reading Boston Marathon, the history book by Tom Derderian. It is a bit dry, but as a runner I still love it ... and it is great fun reading about Sara Mae and Larry! It was a bonus to find a few snippets of Penny DeMoss running very fast back then! She came 2nd in 1978 in 2:45:36. I am assuming that it is the same Penny DeMoss ... anyone know for sure?

It definitely is the same Penny DeMoss.

I have that book, too; I agree it's a fun read.
