Gunilla had a horrible race at WOC. She lost about 30 minutes on one control. Has anyone heard what happened? Was it just one of those days? I don't know how to feel about it. On the one hand, it is good to know that even the best can be out there scratching their heads. On the other, I despair that no matter how good I get, <> the death control could be just around the bend.

The rumour I heard at WOC was her compass needle stuck and it took her a while to realize it.

Gunilla was the most sought-after person at the Relay finish (she ran the first leg). Little kids mobbing for autographs, all the media begging for interviews, cameras in her face long after the 3rd leg finish. I guess some of that had to do with her having a perfect race a day after the disaster in the Middle.

Spike has a nice write-up on this in his blog. The fact that she finished the race anyway despite massive disappointment is very admirable.
