Anybody know the best, inexpensive way of adding email style entry forms to websites for those of us with limited HTML coding experience.

I have seen some HTML form generators out there but wanted to know if anybody was using something like this that was free and relatively easy to use.

I suspect a lot of clubs have some smart web coders out there but what about those that don't. What do you use?

Thanks in advance.

either I haven't made myself very clear or orienteers aren't as smart or helpfull as I always thought they were.

I think it was the former.

I haven't seen any clubs that are using an email form for registration (though I'm sure there are some...?), so that may be why no one had any suggestions. It would be simple enough to implement using one of those online form generators. Most clubs seem to be using a web form <--> database system, which is more complex. The only reason to use an email web form would be if you really needed to guide the format of the email registration. Otherwise, why not just have people send the registrar an email with required information? Either way (email or web form email) you'll still have to compile and enter the information by hand, unless you plan on importing it all into a spreadsheet or database.

Edit: Here's an example of a very simple email web form, complete with trial section so that you can easily create and test your form.

Also, it is pretty common that your website host provider will have the tools you're looking for. Get in to your admin menu and look around.

Good call. I've seen phpFormGenerator available in a few admin panels. It looks pretty useful.

Thanks guys.

Christina: I always knew it wasn't the later but my second post did get results.

Will have a look at those when I get a chance (at work now)

cheers

Have made a very basic form using first example Cristina supplied.

Not sure why some fields are yellow others white.
Feel free to have a look but keep in mind for better or worse it currently is the LIVE site so theoretically you are entering our event if you submit.

I know any details collected by this means still have to be thrown into our SI database but this is a first step as I do not have the skills just yet to setup a form to database system (and I'm not sure our website will let us do it either)

Will have a look at your other suggestions soon.

Once again thanks for assistin me to get to this basic fist stage, especially since I pretty much hate coding in HTML in a text editor when I really don't know HTML at all.

I think the colours are just from the web browser you are using, possibly because it wants to automatically fill in that box (Internet Explorer Identity Card?), I can't see them in Firefox
