Top ten reasons to come to this year's West Point A-Meet:
1. A brand new 1:5000 sprint map & race here:
http://www.hvnet.com/panoramas/trophypoint.htm
2. A newly updated 1:10,000 Middle Distance map with LIDAR base data on the main post area which hasn't been used for an A-meet in over a decade.
3. A fully re-field-checked and LIDAR-updated 1:10,000 Long Distance map north of Camp Buckner and Lake Popolopen.
4. Three race venues, all with spectator-friendly courses & finishes.
5. 30th Annual West Point A-meet
6. US Interscholastic Championships
7. Enthusiastic cadet course setters (All USOF Bronze or Silver ranked orienteers) who realize route choice isn't left or right around the big lake / mountain.
8. Long, uphill walks to the starts. Translation: More race time in "interesting" areas and less race time slogging up those hills.
9. It's vaguely amusing to be called "Sir or Ma'am" 86 times in one weekend.
10. It's been a while since the last time you vowed never to run on those West Point hills, with their thousands of rocks and hundreds of cliffs, and that mis-set control. You convince yourself it will be different this time.

Jon, you read my mind. :-) But I've been returning every year anyway. West Point terrain is not to be missed (on par with Harriman). (I don't remember any mis-set controls last year, anyway.)

And when you fall off the horse you gotta get up and get back on.

It was quite a while ago, but I distinctly remember a mis-set start one day on the Bull Pond map.

Guy, I remember that one too but I managed to survive it. That was before the current crop of Campbell-trained cadets. :-)

I did wander for a while on one or two Brown-middle course controls last year, but that was me, not control placement.
