saw the doc at http://home.comcast.net/~rshannonhouse/Rules.html but rather than trying to filter out the legalese chaff to figure out the difference between the two types of meet, maybe it is quicker to ask here...

A-meet: Official sanctioning process, modest USOF oversight, counts in rankings (assuming a rankable format), USOF gets a slice of the entry fees.

B-meet: Club promises to put on a good meet (good enough that some people might travel and not be disappointed).

This explanation is on BAOC's web site. I think it was written by Dennis Wildfogel.

I wrote something far too long, but a great idea (well I think its great, maybe I'm alone) would be for Canada to replace the A Meet designation and replace it with the term "Canada Cup" like they do in skiing, biking and so many other sports. It would give us automatic recognition that flying across the country to compete in a Canada Cup is a better start than explaining what an A meet is.

Would help attract both sponsors and media attention too. And yes, I'm aware that it might potentially scare away a couple of recreational people. We will hopefully survive.

What worked and what didn't work with the North American Cup league thing from a few years ago?

Hmm, maybe south of the border, we should call our "A" meets America Cup. Oh wait, that's taken. Darn.
