i don't know - he is known as a map maker and course setter. He kind of set the standards at 80' how O mapping shuold be done in this poor country, not only by writing some boring guidelines but making tons of solid quality maps by himself for decades.

"Vuoden seura-palkinnon sai tänä vuonna Rastivarsat Orimattilasta. Rastivarsoissa on tehty pitkäjänteistä ja määrätietoista kehitystyötä useiden vuosien ajan. Orimattilassa tehty kuntosuunnistuksen uudistustyö puolestaan kelpaa malliksi monille muille seuroille." Try google translator. Or Riku :)

It may be something to do with the facts this year is our 30 year anniversary and our club (orhi did loads of work for this) tried to make facelift this year in our O club to make O more attractive for non-orienteers - some improvementsin our weekly training events for average joes, I dont think you have similar event culture in Sweden. You seem to organize trainings for club members, here we try to make evens for everyone, O as fitness training for anyone, just as jogging or skiining or nording walking, swimming etc.

Don't underestimate the work they have done, Jagge. I would sat that everything else is order in Rastivarsat except H21/D21 class orienteering. Certain people have put a lot energy to build a "junior academy". Coaches, mentors, trainings, training camps, competitions (even in Sweden).

Facelift has been going several years and it is paying back. New record again in number of average Joes running in weekly trainings.

Underestimate? Where am I doing it? I tried to be funny joke a little of our bad luck in relays - maybe with these language skills it's better if I stop joking.

It's just as you wrote. I guess our junior program is our biggest and most important improvement during last years, but fitness O facelift may be more well known outside the club.

I have just watched and got amazed of the outcome, no credits goes to this direction...
