My apologies in advance that this posting has nothing to do with attack badgers, or doing strange things in the woods while naked. I came across this report in the context of a Conference I will be going to in Atlanta in April. If you are looking for a great source that explains things like Lactate Threshold, decription of energy systems etc., and the physiological response to exercise - either for one's own interest, being able to explain things to juniors etc. then check it out. Very clear and well written, esp. considering the complexity of some of this stuff. www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/sgr/sgr.htm.
In particular check out Chapter 3: Physiologic Responses and Long-Term Adaptations to Exercise; also the Glossary of terms in Ch. 2.

Looks like good reading!

Fancy link to the report.

I tried to bring this thread back on topic, but I couldn't find a link to a picture of a certain Yukon someone mapping with no pants on.

I also found this report quite interesting. Did some further digging and for those AR'rs out there, I found some interesting info. on sleep deprivation - see Chapter 6 of:

The link jeffw mentions is now unavailable. Apparently too many of the other guys on the squad were jealous, and the women, well they just couldn't get to sleep at night. Maybe Barbie has it.

By the way (and this is not in any way meant to be a comment on the report urthbuoy mentioned) since we all know how easy it is to google and find so-called information on any topic in the world -- as far as fitness and exercise stuff goes, probably the best overall starting point for info you can count on has to be acsm.org - the American College of Sports Medecine.
