My first thought was rest and ice, so I searched on Google and found this as one of the first links (I'm sure you could find more).

Both legs? How in the world did that happen? I've managed to suffer a calf strain the past 3 springs in a row, but always in just one leg. And after talking with the physical therapist about this odd trend after the last one I'm hoping to strengthen it enough to not repeat this annoying feat next spring. And on the recovery side, the page Janet found looks pretty similar to what they had me doing. I'd definitely recommend seeing a physical therapist. They can put you on the right track and help you avoid reinjuring it and having to start over.

Mitch -- if you run on roads the crown may explain strain in just one leg. I always run against traffic and notice the stress on the right knee is considerably greater.

It didn't happen to me from running roads. The last 2 times were 1) while doing plyometric bounding, and 2) in the forest at a West Point A meet. The one 3 springs ago I don't even remember, but when we were researching reinjury at the PT office this past spring they found it in their records, and sure enough my training log showed several weeks of alternate forms of exercise immediately following that date.

Apparently one of the things you gotta be careful about when you get older is switching gears from skiing to running in the spring. It never used to be a problem for me...
