Holy crap! We just got about a foot of snow in Worcester. I might just have to get a pair of those snowshoe things. Looks like good cross training.

Come on out to our MNOC Snowshoe O meet on Feb 12th; it will be a little less full body contact and we won't have the e-punch (big problem for our treasurer if we drop the SI stations in the snow and can't find them).

Running on snowshoes is a heck of a good work out and you can really fly downhill ! Soft landings too ...Plus if you face plant then you get to rehydrate at the same time . !

Man it sounds awesome. Minnesota's a bit far away for me, but I might just try this at home.

John, much closer to Worcester check out Aims Coney's Series at Windblown - listed as ski-o, but also open to snowshoeing. I haven't gotten there yet, but hope to soon...

Might wander up on Friday actually if conditions don't deteriorate between now & then...

John - if you want to get some winter training on snowshoes, Western Mass Athletic Club has a pretty active Snowshoe Race Series, mostly at MA, VT, NY and NH venues. They don't run with maps or swat at control flags, but from the video it looks like maps aren't required.
