Does anyone know what the all-time best Jukola placing is by a North American club/team?

In 2005 Team Attackpoint Rasti was 357. In 2003 and 2004 we were DQ'ed. That's as far back was my O history goes.

BAOC sent the first-ever U.S. club team to the 1997 Jyväs-Jukola. The team finished 870th out of 1197 teams. Here's an interesting diary of how it all happened http://www.sirbooga.com/jukola/jukola97.html

In 2003: US O-Team and Friends 1 was in 277th after the 4th leg before the DQ on the 5th. US O-Team and Friends 2 was 575th but we had 3 guys from New Zealand to fill out the team. 1205 teams listed in results.

In 2004: Team AttackPoint 1 was in 517th after the 5th leg before the DQ on the the 6th. We were approximately 472th on the 5th leg before the DQ was posted. Team AttackPoint 2 had only 1 runner (me and I was sick) and was 1263th after the first leg. 1315 teams listed in results.

Is CSU planning on cracking the top 100?

Yes, it is now Jukola planning time. Team AP-Rasti must become reassembled again. Glory and might of CSU and/or GHO notwithstanding, AP-R would like to extend a welcome to Andyd and blegg in their search of Jukola partners. Other a-pointers are welcome, too.

Jukola is likely a no GHO for GHO. We will focus our efforts on the US Relay Champs instead. ;-)

For Jukola perhaps a Canada vs US competition is possible since I know there was discussion from western Canada.

Jukola is still a go for GVOC! The organizers have allowed us to have 3 women on the team and everyone is planning on going. I guess, with some luck, we could be the first Canadian club to do it.

So GHO will be at the US relay champs, eh? I think we'd better focus almost exclusively on physical training, with a little time for following practice... ahem, I mean practice using a variety of information sources to navigate...

Instead of that, how about a DVOA Jukola team? You guys easily have enough depth!

Instead of the US Relay Champs? I think we need to win the US Relay Champs first, then we can think about moving up to Jukola (and defending the US Relay Champs title?) in '07... Although I'm definitely just DVOA Relay team manager at this point. I'm definitely too slow for a zero point DVOAer - at least for the A-team. Vadim, Randy, Dasha & I could probably make a decent showing on the B-team though. Glad to see the rest of my team is training well :)

Hey, Vlad. Thanks - I'd definitely like to be part of the AP-Rasti team! Do you know who else is up for it this year?

See the event page... I think I will make my best effort to be there, same could very possibly be true for Eric Bone.
