Is the online results

working for anyone? I've tried it with two different setups and 3 different browsers and I can't get it to work.

The audio commentary:

http://www.gmok.nu/jwoc2008/online.php?PHPSESSID=f...

The only North American that they have mentioned is Emily Kemp, who was in 6th place when she finished.

No, the online results don't work and the commentary keeps cutting out.

No surprise though. Maybe they can get it right for the other races.

Every 10 minutes there is results update on the sprint page at JWOC site.
Jun 30, 2008 12:48 PM #
dersu:
They no longer give those update snapshots (very useful because it gives the 2 radio controls).. because the live results link is up...but only gives finish time.

The sprint maps are up now; very interesting courses. Hard to see how they can be done in under 14 min.

The maps are here. I had to save them and then open them up manually.

Middle qualification results and maps are available.

Canadian Emily Kemp's 10th place finish in the W20B heat puts her into the final!!

Yay, Kempster!

Wyatt:
A couple of US visits with runs like that and she'll may well top the F21 rankings (and perhaps even the M-20/35+'s...) Nice.

Wyatt:
Is she on the Canadian WOC team too?

Just watching the results for the middle final...Way to go Emily!!

Bash:
No Wyatt, Kempster probably could have qualified for the WOC team in 2006 at age 14 (she raced well in the trials but didn't put her name forward for consideration), but she is taking things one step at a time, which seems wise. There will be plenty of WOCs in future!

Looks like 33rd in the middle! Awesome.

Yeah, great result!

Probably one of the best JWOC results for Canada ever. Peter MacKenzie was 32nd in the classic at JWOC 1993 in Italy, but other than that, I am not sure if we have put anyone else into the top-40 at JWOC (but would happily be corrected on this).

Spike:
Top Canadian JWOC results (based on the JWOC results database).

Best places are 32nd - Gabor Lipcsey (1998, France, Short) and Peter MacKenzie (1993, Italy, Classic).

Best percent behind:

Emily Kemp (2008, Sweden, Sprint) 10.2
Peter MacKenzie (1993, Italy, Classic) 18.8
Scott Foubister (2006, Lithuania, Sprint) 21.6
Darius Konotopetz (2006, Lithuania, Sprint) 21.8
David Donaldson (1998, France, Classic) 22.7

I hope you enjoy following the races on internet. We had some troubles on Monday, but today and yesterday it seems like it worked fine. At least no one complains on our guestbook, that is a good sign...

Wow - those are some interesting sprint maps! Complex terrain and building complex in equal measure.

Emily is photo #82 finishing the Mid final.

>Top Canadian JWOC results...

pity that Lipcsey, MacKenzie and Donaldson stopped orienteering competitively shortly after those JWOC performances....

I missed one of the top Canadian JWOC results.

Brian May (1991, Germany, Classic) 20.9 percent behind.

Emily Kemp does it again with an awesome 10th (of 42) place finish on the first leg of JWOC relay. Carol Ross had a good 2nd leg in the relay as well with the team sitting in 18th after 2 legs. Teamed up with Slovenia for the anchor. Well done Canada!

Relay Results The results are still listed as preliminary. Are the online results more complete?
Jul 6, 2008 7:42 PM #
Wyatt:
Yep - a very nice 1st leg by Emily, and a fairly respectable US finish on the women's relay 1st leg too: Holly K. in 23rd of 42. Times behind the winner look pretty good too:
1st place was 46, Emily was 50, Holly was 57.

I'm not sure if a Relay counts for % back in Spike's table above, but I think Emily did a 9% back time...
