I will be arriving in Stockholm on Sunday July 6 with a small group of US junior orienteerings. We will be there for a couple of days sightseeing before heading to Karlstad for a training camp with Tom Hollowell and other US juniors. I need to find an O store in Stockholm to purchase a new pair of O shoes. I need a wide shoe and none of the US supplies have any that properly fit me. Could someone tell me where we could find a O store in Stockholm and the times that it is open. We will be staying at the Chapman Hostel if that would help you to know. let me know if you need any other information. Thanks!

Chapman, is that the ship next to Skeppsholmen?

If so, you might want to check out the O' map pof Skeppsholmen. Go here:

http://home.no/scc2003/navigator.htm

Click on "ettap 4 banor" and you can see links to the maps.

If you haven't found there website yet then go to http://www.avantex.ebutik.se/default.asp?olspecial... and choose 1. Skor->Orientering

The Jalas Jukola Spider are quite a wide shoe.

The store is open
Mon-Fri 9:30-6pm
Sat 9:30-2pm
Sun Closed
They are also closed over lunch 1-2pm

http://www.avantex.ebutik.se/?pge_id=13 has a map of how to get there.

Also note for some reason it is cheaper to buy them over the internet than it is to buy them from the shop. It usually works out a similar price just to buy from the shop once postage is included.

Most stores are open 7 days, well supermarkets etc, outdoor stores are less likely to be.

For things to do in Stockholm I would recommend this webpage that you may have found already.
When I tried to think of interesting things to see and do - before finding the webpage - I came up with the same three choices that was on the top of their list of attractions. They may be 'tourist traps' to a certain degree, but still interesting in many ways and definitely worth visiting.
One of the good things about Stockholm is that most of these attractions actually are within walking distance from the city centre (or Chapman) - at least for active people - but there are also frequent buses.

When I was living in Stockholm and had visitors, my standard tour included:

Vasa Museum - I like everything about the museum. Walking into the museum and seeing the ship is amazing. Make sure to see the movie that tells the story of the ship and its restoration.

Fika (a Swedish verb that basically involves having a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll) - the fika-break is a typical part of Swedish culture. On a nice day in the summer, you can't beat it.

Boat ride to Vaxholm (bus ride back to Stockholm) - you get a nice tour of the archipelago and (at least back in the late 1980s and early 1990s) the tickets were reasonable.

Yeah, forgot about the 'fika' - but maybe they´ll get enough in Göteborg. And the boat ride to Vaxholm is another thing that might be worth doing - actually I may be doing this tour myself later this summer (I used to live in Stockholm so I have seen it all, but my wife and kids have never really seen much there). Tickets are still reasonable: 70:- one-way for adults, 45:- for 7-19 year olds.
Another good thing to consider is to get the Stockholm Card that gives you free entry to 75 museums and attractions, free travel by public transport, free sightseeing by boat as well as several other bonus offers.

Bus drivers in Stockholm went on strike today, so traveling may be a little bit more difficult than normal, but communter trains and the subway are running as normal. Could be worth checking before going on a boat trip to Vaxholm with plans to take a bus back to Stockholm, for example.
