Sprint Series Standings updated as of 5/12/2008. Email USSprintSeries2008@gmail.com if any corrections and/or questions.

Standings do not include West Point, Thomas Stars and another Canadian Sprint. Results were available for processing however they were not available in format for easy result processing. I am asking for your cooperation to allow timely Sprint standings updates in future.

# 1 When submitting results for standings please include following:
Name of the Sprint:
Date:
Club ID hosting Sprint:
Course Setter (Optional):
Length of the course (Optional):
Climb (Optional):
Number of Controls (Optional):

Without this information I need to spend extra 5-10 minutes to gather that information from whatever information is available. There were about 130 sprints last year. You can do the math how much extra time I'd have to spend to gather information for every Sprint submitted.

#2 Sprint Series are scored by course and gender; not by class. Some Sprint results were submitted by class. Recent example - West Point meet Sprint results are available only by class. Sure I could reformat them and sort results by course (there were 3 courses at West Point) however I will remind that results crunching is volunteer activity and it is already time consuming activity and I would prefer not to do reformatting race results before I can process them for Sprint Standings.

#3 Some clubs send me Email informing that Sprint Results are ready at their Web-site. Often link is included in the Email. I don't mind receiving Email with link to the results page as long as when I click on link it opens results page. However often there is just a reference to orienteering clubs main page and no instructions how to navigate to results page. It is not rocket science to figure out how to get to Results page but again - it takes time and effort.

#4 Sometimes I don't even receive Email from club that hosted Sprint race that results are available. Next thing I get is Email asking how come this or that race has not been included in standings. I would hate to exclude important race from standings because I did not receive Email notice (West Point and Interschollastics to name few recent races) but at the same time I don't think that results crunchers responsibility is to monitor NA racing schedule.

#5 This is just FYI - I did notice some of the result requests made to Spam folder instead of Inbox. From now on I will be checking Spam folder.

I apologize if I sound annoyed and/or grumpy however some of the information I am requesting is at your fingertips. Extra 5-10 seconds of extra work you could do before submitting Sprint Results can save extra 5-10 minutes of my time.

Gil, I feel your pain. I will send you an email with the West Point spreadsheet I created to do the rankings.

5min x 130 sprints = 650min = 10hr 50min
10min x 130 sprints = 1300min = 21hr 40min
