I am experintieng something for the first time,in relation with orienteering competition and I want to see what others think about the issue.
Originally I was'nt sure that I will go to the ROC A meet, but at the GLOF me and some old orienteering friends decided to meet again, next week at the ROC A meet at Letchworth NY.The only problem was that I was not signed up, but I had that happen before, a couple of times and the organizers were understanding, as far as I pay the late entry fee and others, they even forgive me for that, just beeing glad that they have another competitor in the race.(I am talking about other A meets here).
But after having a two stage , late fee increments,ROC have turned down all the people who tried to sign up, after 10/13 the last day for entries(or so I am told by Dick Detwiller the registar). So since I made plans to meet with people at this meet, it looks like I am set up for my first ever, just purelly spectator participation, at a orienteering meet.

I've known of at least one other meet that did this. It was an Interscholastic Championship and they had a lot of teams enter, plus a strict permit limit on the number of people they were allowed. When they reached the limit, they started turning down entries.

Come to Kent, CT, Saturday and Sunday. We'll accept your money and figure a way to get you in up until the last start time. Expect great terrain, great courses and sounds like should be good weather.
