Nav-Stock: Peace, Love and Orienteering
June 7-8, Barrie, Ontario

This year's Nav-Stock Weekend features a sprint race, a middle distance race, a BBQ and the Nav-Stock games on Saturday and the all new Salomon Nav-Stock Raid on Sunday - all in the awesome terrain of the Oro Sandhills north of Barrie (sites of the 1994 Nor-Am and Canadian Champs).

Early bird registration for the Salomon Nav-Stock Raid is Wed. April 23rd. The Raid is a two-person 6-hour adventure run mixing the adventure running and Rogaine styles. The prizes for this race will be awesome and the top teams can expect to cover over a marathon distance of orienteering. After racing for 6 hours (3 hours for juniors and families) join other racers for an awesome post-race meal to compare routes and stories. We have family, junior, open, coed, masters and more categories available.

What are the Nav-Stock Games you ask? Well lets just say it is THE biggest orienteering party in Canada and includes the annual World 3-legged String Orienteering Champs.

Once again we have arranged for group camping at Bass Lake Provincial Park near Orillia Ontario. Details will be on our web site shortly.

This is one awesome weekend of orienteering. Hope you can join us.

I've already registered for Nav-Stock and looking forward to it. Is there anyone travelling to the event from Montreal or even Ottawa that may have room for an Aussie passenger?

Registration for the middle distance (5K), sprint, and Nav-Stock games (all the great stuff taking place on the Saturday of the Nav-Stock weekend) is now open.

GHO will be hosting the Nav-Stock middle distance (5K) and the Stars orienteering club will be hosting the Nav-Stock sprint, games and potluck BBQ. Together we hope to make this the best Nav-Stock ever! See you then.

One more week to sign up for Nav-Stock!

A very nice middle distance course has been designed on a new map of Schumacher Mtn and Nick Duca and the Stars have a great sprint planned together with the BBQ and World 3-legged string-O Champs.

Barb Campbell has designed a challenging Salomon Nav-Stock 6 hour adventure run for the Sunday. The race starts like a typical orienteering adventure run and then finishes with a mini rogaine section. The top teams will have to cover a marathon in 6 hours to get all the checkpoints in 6 hours.

This year's Nav-Stock was the hottest ever with temperatures topping 30-33C and with high humidity.

Navstock weekend winners:

After back-to-back US victories, Canada won the W3LSOOC (World 3-legged string orienteering Champs).

Patrick Goeres won the Navstock middle covering the 4.7km in a quick 27 minutes.

Wil Smith won the Navstock sprint (2.8km in 17:53).

The Salomon Bobkittens (Leanimal and Slice on AP) not only won the all female category but won the Salomon 6 hour Raid Adventure Run overall. Impressive! Three time Nor Am Rogaine Champion, Barb Campbell (aka Bash), set a challenging course mixing rogaine, road running, adventure running and orienteering elements into the mix. Results and maps will be on the web site shortly.

Next in the Salomon Adventure Running Series is the Salomon Raid the Hammer 10K and 25K Adventure Run in November! We promise it will be cooler.

And for those who did the Salomon Giant's Rib Raid... we also promise that it will be drier.

Air temperatures below body temperature and water less than waist deep? Surely there has to be a better reason to Raid the Hammer?

Can you promise better courses? Now that would be a feat!

(Nice job for both races...)
