What is mixed punching?

SI Air enabled but optional.

jjcote:
Isn't non-Air always an option? ("Mixed-punching" comes off sounding like there will be pin punches at some controls.)

Any possibility of spectator races?

Although mid-July in Northeast Ohio sounds a bit scary.
Mar 15, 2024 6:39 PM #
cmorse:
Less scary than mid-July in Birmingham, AL though...

Greg - you might be able to pre-run the courses as part of the vetting/wakeup crew - contact the organizers... Beat the mid day heat too...

>>Less scary

It depends. Likely as humid, not as hot (mid-80s instead of 90s), much worse vegetation--- I recall it was pretty bad in May 2004 on this map.

BrianJohnston:
SPORTident should call it what it is, SI and SIAC punching as 'mixed punching' could include pin punching, dibbing (I know it's a popular UK term) and air.
The progression of 'punching' is away from punching--pin punching was punching your control card, SI is to dab or is more dibbing than punching and SIAC is said to be contactless punching (oxymoron?) from half a metre away.

The sports commission has requested comfortable temps and lower humidity.

Given that the venues are all to the south of the city, will it be possible to register in Kent on the Saturday instead of going downtown?
May 17, 2024 1:42 AM #
JBoyer:
Unfortunately no, the Pan-Am organizing committee wants all athletes for all sports to get their credentials and pre-race packets downtown at the accreditation center. You can find the dates and hours on the PanAm overall schedule page:

https://clevelandmasters2024.com/schedule-masters-...

Hours on Friday 7/12 are 7am-9pm EST. Click “view overall schedule” and scroll to the bottom for the full day-by-day schedule (there are some differences in the hours for each day)

Is there a way to see who is coming?
May 20, 2024 5:08 PM #
mikeminium:
The PAMG website does not provide that info. NEOOC has been working to try to get that information from PAMG and hopes to periodically update it to the NEOOC website.

I see a few more people have registered! I registered last night but I'm not showing up on the "who's registered" doc -- I'm hoping it's just a delay (I got a confirmation), and that there are others who have registered as well but haven't shown up. I'm looking forward to the races!

LOL! I received [additional] confirmation from the PAMG office that I'm registered, and that the participant lists will be updated "shortly."
Jun 13, 2024 9:11 PM #
gordhun:
As you can see, their list of registrants is a PDF so it does not update automatically the way an Eventreg form does. Some poor volunteer is probably handling that manually and exporting the whole list from an Excel form. Now that entries have 'closed' I expect another list shortly. I expect that they will also find a way to keep entries open another couple of weeks, at least for some sports, like orienteering. Golf, tennis and some others they may have to release holds on facilities they will not need and keep entries closed.

Don't stone me. I could find several important infos, though I tried my best:
1. Start windows. Especially for Sprint.
2. Credential center hours. Are they 7am-9pm EST every day or only on 7/12?
3. Credential center address.
4. Are athletes allowed to pick up others credentials?
Jun 14, 2024 4:09 PM #
gordhun:
2. Open every day but hours vary - see bottom of overall schedule page.
3: Venue Address: 300 Lakeside Avenue East, Cleveland, OH, 44113

PS Congrats on a good looking event in Brooklyn.
