Discussion: OUSA Rankings

Does anyone know when OUSA updates the rankings or at what frequency: a month, two months, three weeks, etc.

You may want to ask directly the current person listed as handling the OUSA rankings, e-mail found on https://orienteeringusa.org/about/board/, as they would be best to tell you what schedule they do follow.

Typically updated within a few weeks following receipt of official results from NREs. But has not yet been updated with Boulder Dash from early May. Not sure of reason for delay. Too soon for CalPoly sprint.

Anyone know why all of the West Point races are listed as N/R?

One West Point race is not listed. I would still ask Ioana. I know that the ranking up to the WOC TTs (not including the TTs) was made available in case it would be needed for tie-braking reasons and evaluation of petitions if there were any.

Yeah, that is weird. I wonder if there was another NRE before West Point that needed to be loaded first and perhaps the results weren't in yet?

for tie-braking reasons for the TT it is correct for those races not to be included also in the ranking; and the ranking was updated just prior to the TTs to include all NREs up to that point, so there should be none missing, assuming all NREs are listed on EventReg, none are missing prior to Apr 15.

So I guess N/R means Not Ranked, and that's a temporary situation that will be lifted next time the ranking machine is cranked up.

Not all NRE's go through EventReg, but I'm pretty sure the current list is up to date through West Point. Possibly they were kept out of rankings since there were multiple M-21+ and F-21+ courses?

The status at the moment appears, from both public and internal viewpoints, to be that West Point results have been uploaded but not yet used to produce a later-dated set of rankings than April 15th. This should indeed be a temporary situation. After which, the last I checked we were still waiting on files of Boulder Dash results from the organizers (promised and no doubt soon to be forthcoming but I advise and try to personally practice patience with people who are trying to do things right rather than as fast as humanly possible).

For my part, rankings updated at least monthly seems like a reasonable target to aspire to.

For everyone's information, the rankings are now updated though the end of April. a further update through the end of May should be coming soon, though I shouldn't make any promises as to precisely how soon.
