Vlad did a very nice job of announcing at Tahoe this weekend. I had heard kudos from the work he did at the Relay Champs (last year?). He announced the runners as they were coming down the finish chute, their approximate placing/finish time, background information, the current placings, etc. Very well done!

THANKS!!! Actually, I wish this could have been done better. Please thank Jay Hann for the equipment—he had it all in excellent order and provided invaluable support. But Jay also had another half-dozen jobs to do on Sunday, hence we were about an hour late opening and missed a small number of earliy finishers, mostly kids.

The decision not to announce on Saturday was made because of the remote finish and because I had a randomly-assigned WRE start time. In hindsight I should have just foregone the WRE and helped set up, and the finish wasn't that far that we couldn't have carted the amp and the speakers.

And, one of the BAOC computers crashed on Day 1. The original plan was to use the OE2002 Announcer Module. I had a number of files with background info and was hoping to use those with the computer actually prompting me with the runners' numbers. As it was, I spend most of the time shuffling the starts lists and couldn't fill in with info on the runners I didn't personally know. Hope for a better show next time.
