The takeaway from the sprint relay, the 6 minute handicap between 3/6/9 point teams wasn't enough. The 3 point teams still beat the 6 point teams by 12 minutes, and the 6 point teams beat the 9 point teams by 15 minutes. Although what would have been the top 9 point team missed a control and would have been only a minute behind the top 6 point team without any handicap.
For the top teams in each category to tie there would need to be the following handicap.
9 point team: start at 0
6 point team start at 1
3 point team start at 18 minutes.
That handicapping would make the bulk of the teams even further behind the lead teams.
