Put this in the "No such thing as bad publicity" category? A nice action photo!

Add this to the list of instructions that every coach should give to every orienteer going anywhere by air: YOUR ORINTEERING GEAR GOES IN THE CARRY-ON BAG!!! ..... When you are returning home and the stuff is dirty then it can go in the checked bag.

My bike doesn't fit in the overhead compartment.

My son and his girlfriend lost their bags somewhere between Copenhagen and Porto (they didn’t pack their O gear in their hand baggage). Luckily we arrived in Porto a few days after them and found their bags amongst what seemed like 100s of lost bags in a corner of the baggage reclaim hall. The only downside was getting stung for a rental car upgrade to fit all the bags in.

Thanks for the link. I have read the story, and readers' comments. Made me kinda sad. Canadian people are very angry at liberals, and I am not surprised.

I just saw this. Very unfortunate for Andrew.
Since Andrew is a McMaster student (and I'm a MAC Prof) I'm going to try to make a plea to McMaster Alumni in Europe and specifically Portugal to see if they can help him out. I've just reached out to some in Orienteering Canada for some contact info. If others have a suggestions please let me know ASAP. Only a few days before JWOC and its important for him to be focusing on maps (not lost luggage).

Hammer beat me to it, but I assume that this is under control as there's been zero asks for assistance from Team Canada?

We had 3 bags from team USA lost coming Amsterdam to Porto. But we stayed overnight in Porto and Tori was able to get it when she went back to pick up athletes. But a total of 3 hrs standing in lost luggage line.
I tried reaching out to Andrew. I have a brand new compass and arm sleeve in wrapper he can have.

ALWAYS pack your kit in your hand luggage!!!! No excuses
Not to mention it’s MUCH better for your compasses anyway.

I’m sorry he’s had to deal with this before JWOC though and hope can get sorted. Tough time to learn the lesson.
