Yeah, organisers demoted us internationals and I didn't have the motivation to argue it.

Uncle JiM:
Did the boys argue? Or didn't it apply to them

Uncle JiM:
Just read your updated log.

Sounds like a good way to discourage people from coming to your events (Western Australia doesn't allow foreigners, i.e. those from outside the state, to win state titles as I will likely find out later this year).

tRicky - you still have property in WA? Could you be both resident and non-resident champion?

tRicky:
I'm not a club member. That's the other requirement.

You should have asked me to sort it Lizzie! I even managed to persuade them to give me mugs for the second and third W10s (dsq in the qualifier as all but one were) eventually...

Haha, thanks Jenny, but I was happy to take the B final. Got smoked enough by the Brit girls in the SR and Qual!

The most bizarre outcome of an eligibility rule was undoubtedly in the days when the Australia-New Zealand Challenge was by residence rather than citizenship, with the outcome that the then NZ High Commissioner to Australia, Graham Fortune, ran for Australia against NZ.

Seems to have reverted now given that Greg Barbour always rides for NZ against Aus in our Trans-Tasman MTBO comps (and he's President of ONSW!)

There is history there - a certain Australian Championships.

I accidentally won a British relay championship without knowing this was a rule. My teammates were not thrilled...oops.

Funny. We entered a national relay in Ireland with our new team member who had joined us from the organising club. We were told in advance we would be disqualified as the rule was one club per year. We ran (and won) anyway and were dq’d at the presentation by the organiser who read out that we were dq’d for “illegible composition”.

Some people do find it hard to understand the Irish accent.
