Training maps for PNWOF are now up on the Usynligo app. (NOTE: there are no flags in the forest! Please use the Usynligo app if you want to verify your control visits.)

Those are your 'training maps'? That must mean you have different and better maps for the competition?
All power to you. Those maps look great!
I'm sure everyone who can find their way to Missoula are in for a treat.

I see the XML file included with the Silver Park set, any chance you can include IOF 3.0 XML files for Soft Rock & Blue Mountain as well. I'd like to upload to O-Range and use that instead of Usynligo. I can make them public so others can use O-Range.

BorisGr:
Oh sure. I can do that.

I've never used O-Range before. What are the advantages?

maprunner:
O-Range is a Garmin app so it only works on Garmin watches. Main advantage is not having to carry your phone.

I uploaded the other XMLs. Please let me know if that works.

It should, I put Silver Park up earlier.. it's only 3,311,197m to the start... I'd better get going... :-) Thanks.

I also find the o-range tends to track closer to my movements than my phone's gps does. So it will always beep when I find the point, rather than waiting a few moments for usynligo to pick up on the signal.

But the main benefit for me of o-range is that I can load the course to my watch before leaving and not depend on having cell phone coverage when I arrive at the map. Many orienteering maps have poor data coverage so usynligo has not worked for me on many occasions.

Yeah, i hear you on the cell phone coverage. I have tested Usynligo on all three training maps that i posted, and it works fine there.
I'll definitely try O-Range next time I have a chance.

Courses & maps are now available on O-Range.

I like O-Range for training because it uses the watch I'm already wearing - no futzing with a cell phone - and it just issues a haptic buzz when I hit the circle, doesn't interrupt flow.

Correction: it only works on some Garmin watches. Obviously not on older models without enough fancy features, but also not on the fancy new Garmin watch that I got recently (Instinct 2), reportedly because it has a different API than the ones that are supported. (sigh...)

Can confirm what JJ said, as I actually emailed the developers, asking if they could make o-range compatible with the Instinct. They said they couldn’t. :-(

She can confirm it because I got that information from her!

Luckily, the Garmin Forerunner 235 which is currently a very popular watch with orienteers is on the compatible list.
