Bare rock is the best. I'm glad to hear that they provide kids with that natural play environment. The Google Maps photos seem to show the playground as a construction zone, so maybe that opened recently?
One of my favorite activities as a young child was climbing on the bare rocks in Central Park.
Ditto re bare rocks in Central Park. I remember well the field trip from my one room school house (20 kids K through 8th grade ) in Westchester County in the 50’s to the Natural History Museum on CPW, driven in a few Mom taxis, taking our lunch boxes into the park. Ah, those were the days.
Stone steps and ramps to climb up to the tops of the slides, which are themselves polished granite. Yes, it is quite new.
Ah, not as cool as stone outcrops, but still sounds pretty interesting. And durable, I'd guess. And maybe not as scorching hot in the sun as steel?
They also have some mist sprayers along the top. Pretty fun.
