It's not sold that well to club members, I should have at least dragged the kids down to watch and experience. Not sure about entering, pretty sure something would break on me :-)

I don’t know how the older veteran athletes do it. They must spend ALL of their time massaging their calves.

I only ran one open graded track event ever: I think Caban dragged me along. It was tremendous fun! Like you say, everyone goes off too fast so you spend the whole race passing people. I'm still mystified why I never did it again. Some tosh about £2/min not being value for money probably.

I don't think I ever had to pay for my limited track runing experiance. 800m and 1500m were fun but having to do 5000 and then 3000 sc an hour afterwards was not so nice. The 800m was in a similar sort of setup 10+ events of an evening. Virtually the training group went out and did it.
