A lot of text that I already read. A quick summary of what’s changed?
Apr 1, 2022 8:26 PM #
gordhun:
Where and when wil the results for each day be posted? Is there live posting?
Apr 2, 2022 12:41 AM #
JanetT:
Site plans (maps) have more detail on start/finish/parking; race details not much different from what was already posted.

Are there any results from yesterday anywhere?

Edit: I found them on the AP event page, thanks! (No mention of results or where to find them on the website event page, though)

Anyone know anything about today's results?

No.

Pink Socks: quick summary - COC juniors did well.
The splits posted on AP for today's Orange (?) course appear to have errors, they don't match the printout that one of my athletes has.
Weather was sunny and cold at daybreak, clouding over by afternoon. Good day of orienteering.

Splits for Friday were published at 1:25 a.m. this morning. I would guess the schedule will be the same for today. :-(

mschuh:
Please disregard my comment about possible errors ... was looking at wrong stuff; sorry.
Apr 3, 2022 3:26 AM #
Pink Socks:
Results went up on AP at some point during the second half of Duke-UNC.

There aren't any teams associated with the results, or any IS/IC scoring, but it's better than nothing.
Apr 3, 2022 10:15 AM #
gordhun:
That's it? Is that the only place that fans and parents from away can see the results is the AP splits? This is the JUNIOR NATIONALS , for Pete's sake!
There must be a missing link!

The meet site had some team and scholastic class results but that doesn’t help onlookers from afar.

Thanks very much Patrick.
Look at UW breaking into the West Point monopoly.
I'm betting that at least some of them are graduates from Tahoma.

I'm betting that at least some of them are graduates from Tahoma.

Actually, you'd lose that bet! The Tahoma team is generally too new of a team to have a lot of (or any?) high school graduates. UW's team is mostly (all?) a collection of WIOL alumni kids.

Also, the splits for Sunday are now on AP (again, this is the only place I've found them so far).

Schools and clubs in EventReg. (I’m thumbing along on my phone, or I’d be more helpful. :-) )

Ava and Paige are from NJ ( DVOA), Max and Samantha are both QOC from the same HS. I think Priscilla is an OCIN member. Lily is from GA (Clemson?), think Jasper is OCIN, as is Dylan.

CHARLIE-B:
Lily is from South Carolina. She is in her first year at Clemson University, which is in Clemson, South Carolina.

Up until last spring she competed for Easley High School, which is in Easley, South Carolina.

She is, however, a member of GAOC and has been coming to our local events quite regularly of late.

Besides being a spectacularly good athlete and orienteer, she is a truly outstanding person. So glad to see her doing so well, but it is no surprise.

Regarding the rest of this thread, knowing the people involved in putting on this meet, I have no doubt that they are doing their absolute utmost, in the throes of a deadly worldwide pandemic, to give their NRE and Junior Championship competitors a first class experience as their first priority.

As someone who has directed many NREs and a few WREs, I can say that a private offer of real help is so much more appreciated than public sniping from the peanut gallery. Is there really no good deed which goes unpunished?

That said, many thanks for collating and posting unofficial results, Patrick. Super.

Yes, sorry. I let my anxiety get the better of me. And I was so sure a good job on the results going to the web would be done that I passed that assurance on to others.

Several of these athletes are on the National Team Junior Squad: Lily, Jessica, Ava, Zariah, and Ben B. Nice to see some quite fine results from them—and others—this weekend.
EDIT: sorry, Jessica is no longer a Junior! She’s on the NT Performance Squad, as is Diana A (F21 this weekend), and Danny Riley (Performance) as well as Joe Barrett (Elite Squad) on Blue.

Thank you OCIN and OUSA for hosting a terrific weekend of orienteering. As usual, you put on a first class event. Courses were challenging, but fair, and a lot of fun (even Friday's middle :)). The OCIN club members and volunteers were all wonderful: EVERYONE ONE OF THEM. So much respect for the effort that goes into putting on an event like this. And lastly, thanks for dialing up some great early Spring weather to run in. Well done!

Saturday and Sunday Routegadget is up:

Thanks to volunteer Beth MacLehose for taking care of it for us!

OCIN's resident computer engineer Shane Dawalt wrote software that takes the csv output from OE2010 and computes both ISIC individual and team scores that are live updated about 1 minute after download of each runner. So the people at the event were well-taken-care-of regarding the ISIC "average winning time" scoring points and team standings. Give us some time and we'll have them online.

Excellent races and logistics as always, OCIN! Nicely done. Glad we didn't have any downpours. ;-)

We've started to post the daily individual results and splits and some of the photos here. We are still working out some formatting and a couple corrections, and will also be uploading many more photos soon.

There will also be an Event Recap page on the Orienteering USA web site. I'm still on the road and have over 2500 photos to process when I get home. Hopefully something by midweek.

Hat's off to OCIN for an outstanding event.
Friday's course was particularly memorable as to how to make a short course challenging. VERY enjoyable. I felt particularly fortunate to remember to wear my soccer shoes.
THANKS!

To any official event organizer or unrecognized volunteer that sees this - I am tremendously grateful for the event you put on. As a participant in sports, I have a tendency to take the events for granted, hating when they don't happen but not expressing enough appreciation when they do. This weekend was full of some of the most adventurous orienteering that I've had access to these last few years, and although I most certainly cursed the course designer for sending me up and down mini mountain slopes on Friday, it was all with love. Also I want to shout out the man that was in charge of the start times - I harassed him twice needing new times for a different course, and he slotted me in amidst the chaos. Thank you all :) I am very grateful for any results, photos, events, etc. no matter when they may occur or get published - especially if it's a photo of me running epically

Three galleries of photos from Friday's Middle Distance at Slbacamp Run have been posted. A couple of these galleries wound up posting in reverse order. I hope to get more up tomorrow... Feel free to tag and share.

OCIN Photo Galleries, photos by Rex Settlemoir and Mike Minium. There are more on the OCIN Facebook page linked a few posts back. Results Page should now have links to just about all results, also to Route Gadget and more. Check that page for a list of clothing items that were left behind, and a list of our wonderful volunteers.

The Youth Development Program would like to invite all youth - whether you've joined YDP or not - to join in on an OUSA-wide course review session Saturday, April 9th at 5PM Pacific / 8PM Eastern.

We'll break out into groups by course (Red, Green C, Brown B. Orange A, Orange B, Yellow, and White) and talk about key legs of the races over the weekend. OUSA coaches will facilitate the small groups. Course designers will listen in and answer questions. It should take no more than an hour, and we're aiming for much shorter for our youngest participants.

Are you a youth who is interested in joining in?
1. Sign up here by Friday evening so we can stop spamming everyone with EventReg emails, and let us know which legs you are most interested in talking about.
2. Be sure to upload or draw your route on
Routegadget by Friday so the coaches have a chance to take a look.
3. Watch for the final coordinating email with the Zoom link on Friday night.

Here are some other useful links:

Hope to see you Saturday!

Thanks to all that put on an amazing event. Tahoma had an excellent weekend and we were all able to test our open forest legs, something we don’t get to do a lot in WA. We appreciate all of the efforts it takes to put on a great event and you hosted 3 days back to back. Nice work!
