Pretty great camping amenities - there are easy take-out options along Oracle a few miles short of the park (MOD Pizza, Chipotle, Panera...Peggy, Panera!...plus cmpblla's and my local favorite, Nico's Tacos). There's a Safeway just before that. And there's a Walmart across from the park entrance that turned out to be the only place with Jetboil fuel canisters due to some random shortage in Tucson this week, as well as a good place to pick up some blankets to add to our 40-degree bags to keep us warm at night.
We were allowed to have fires despite the otherwise park-wide ban because of the campground hosts' presence and monitoring.
The hot showers are fantastic. cmpblla would tell you the ornate tree lizards are pretty nice, too.
Next year, we'll be packing for winter camping overnights, and Tucson sunshine days...a strange combination of extra warm sleeping / wake-up gear (including hats and gloves) and shorts / cotton T-shirts.
Sunrise / sunsets were lovely, too.
