Is it true the older you get the better you get?
Seems to be true for the M35, M 40 and M45 classes. They ran the same course, didn't they?
Well all but one of the successful finishers on M40 andM45 would have won a medal if entered in M 35.
Moreover the second place finisher in M35 could have been entered in M 60.
They really ought to be one category, as I've said multiple times...
Interesting that you're seeing this at an event with no (championship) elite class - in Australia it's normal for the M/W35 (and to a lesser extent 40) classes to be very thin because the good ones are still running elites.
(Also noticed a former JWOC gold medallist in the results....)
A gold at JWOC = a silver in M40 in the US :)
Is it true the older you get the better you get?
I think it is not true. After 50, your level drops unless you undergo liposuction and other expensive rejuvenation procedures.
But JJ does run faster and faster...

@bmay Exactly what we are off to determine.
How does a 60 year old decide between M35, M40, M45? It's actually a semi-serious question as I turn 50 (and may choose to run up a class or more).
Bmay: opinions vary. If you asked me, I'd say the age closest to your true age (i.e., M45).
Pick whichever one looks softest, usually M35. That does mean you hope no ringers register as late as you are registering....
My attitude is that we should all be running M35. I would have been most pleased if that had happened and I had finished 13th.
Just set 2 or 3 courses. AG awards within courses for proper biological age and gender/sex (latter combo as it is currently managed). If the course is too short, run faster. Perhaps Championship medals only down to a certain age, e.g. M50–59 medals only on the longest course.
With attendance numbers as they are, very soon there will be less than 3 per five-year category. If people keep doing what they have been, soon enough less than 3 per each of the seven course colors.
Lately stopped feeling tired after races. May be all 60-olds should concentrate into M35+ class? Its like you hit M60+ and start the aging process fresh. By 85 all of a sudden I am in M60+ again! Repeat. I think I will do exactly like that and sign for all M35+ races on 2022.
Welcome to M35, Sergey! That's exactly what I want to see (along with all of the M40s and M45s).
