Discussion: COVID Survey

Anyone who attended all or part of Tahoe2021 should have received an email with a link to an anonymous survey to check for any cases from the event.
Please consider responding if you have not already. You can email us at registrar@cal-o-fest.com if you did not receive the email and attended - individual responses will not be made public.

It wouldn't let me submit the survey unless I signed into a Google account. I declined to do that that on my own behalf, and it isn't possible for me to do so on behalf of the other person in my party for whom I would have submitted a survey. So no surveys from us.

Same issue as O-maps.
Having to sign into an account is a fatal flaw...

Thanks - I am looking into the settings - google says you do not have to sign into a form.
The responses we see do not show any identifying information from required questions. The google account used is not shown but i agree it ideally should not require sign-in.

If you use a private browser window - you are not logged into your google account and you can enter the survey without logging in.

Confirming what Steph said above:

The form shows your Google account to YOU when you are filling it out, but it doesn't give that information to us. (That's why it says "(not shared)" next to your Gmail address.) Feel free to use a private browser window to fill it out, though.

The other confusing thing about the Google forms design: they try to tell us that an asterisk next to a question means you can't skip that question. But the way they do it is by putting " * Required" in red, right below the line where you see your Gmail address.

So it looks like this:

Which makes it look like you're giving us your identity with this survey, but you really aren't.

I saw that it had my google account when I tried to fill out the survey. I didn't want to share that so I logged out of google, and was able to complete the survey without any problems.

Also: if you did get a positive COVID test in the two weeks after you attended Tahoe 2021, I hope you will let us know one way or another, so we can respond appropriately. That's the main point here, I think.

It would also be lovely if we could say that we have responses from a high percentage of attendees, because we'd all feel more confident.

I see answering the questionnaire having two purposes. One is to let others know if someone tested positive, which is extremely important, although two weeks out is a long time since with the Delta variant, people are contagious within 3 days.

The other reason is for information for future events so that we know if we can successfully hold large orienteering events safely. I just read that the WOC had COVID-19 problems and people took the disease home with them.

We need to be responsible.
